Ron was born and raised in Salisbury, NC, and received a BS in Exercise and Sport Science from UNC-Greensboro in 1993. It’s there that he made the two greatest decisions in his life…to accept Christ as his Savior and Kelly as his wife. In 2004 while working a secular job, Ron accepted a position that moved he and his family back to Salisbury. It was there they began attending High Rock Church and quickly became heavily involved in many aspects of the ministry.
During this time, God was making it clear that He had a much bigger role for Ron. When HRC became a multi-site church, Ron answered God’s call into full-time ministry by becoming the Campus Pastor of HRC-Denton, NC. After 5 years of ministry there, Ron then moved to launch HRC-Albemarle. After 3 years of ministry as a campus, God opened the door for HRC-Albemarle to become an independent church which led to the birth of Uwharrie Community Church.
Ron loves communicating, speaking the truth in a practical and down to earth approach. His teaching style includes practical illustrations and humor (sometimes it’s even funny!). The heart of Ron’s vision is to make it easy for people to develop a love for God, a love for others and a love for sharing the Good News of Jesus. There is a strong focus on reaching people that have “given up” or never “given a thought” to church.
Ron and Kelly have been married since August 1995 and have two daughters, Allie and Erin.
